Millennium hired a managing director from Morgan Stanley

2019's other big recruiter struck again: hedge fund Millennium Management added another new portfolio manager in London.

Millennium's latest hire is Karim Cellier, a former managing director in delta one trading at Morgan Stanley. Cellier joined the fund this month according to his LinkedIn profile.

Cellier spent his entire career at Morgan Stanley after joining as a graduate in 1999. He was promoted to managing director in 2013. 

Like Jefferies, Millennium has been busy adding staff this year. Earlier this month it recruited Jorge Deza Neira from Citi. The FCA register shows that Millennium added 32 people in London between January and October, an increase of 20%. Those recruits included Farzad Kassam, the former co-head of GBP rates trading at RBS Natwest Markets, in whose absence revenues seem to have plummeted. 

Millennium historically had a reputation for churning staff, and dismissing ex-bank traders promptly when they don't perform. However, insiders at the fund dispute its harsh reputation. "This is a great place to work," says one. "If you are mature enough, you can do really well here. They give you all the tools you need to succeed and you do well they will seed your own fund."
