An ex-Goldman Sachs systematic equities MD joined this expanding hedge fund

Massoud Mussavian probably counts among the people who've had a pleasantly relaxing summer. Mussavian disappeared from hedge fund Cantab Capital Partners in October 2018 according to the FCA Register. He's only just turned up somewhere else.

Mussavian has joined ISAM Funds, an alternative investment manager that specialises in quantitative investing. It's not clear what he'll be doing there, but Mussavian was already on the internal directory when we called and ISAM didn't return a request to clarify his role.

Headhunters say Mussavian is unlikely to be ISAM's only equities-related hire. The fund, which was launched in 2008 and was until recently run by Stanley Fink, former chief executive of Man Group plc, is understood to be building-out its equities business in London.

Mussavian spent twelve and a half years at Goldman Sachs after a career in academia (London Business School, NYU Stern). He joined Cantab May 2013 and left again five and a half years later.
