As a/an Vice President, Strategic Analytics in Business Card Risk, you will lead the development, implementation, and ongoing optimization of acquisition credit criteria and underwriting policies that support sustainable growth while maintaining a strong control environment. You will own decision rules, risk segmentation, and approval cutoffs-using advanced analytics to balance approval rates, loss performance, profitability, customer experience, and regulatory expectations. You will drive cross-functional execution from strategy through implementation, monitoring, and governance, while presenting insights and recommendations to senior leadership and governance forums.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Own Business Card acquisition credit criteria, including underwriting policies, risk segmentation, approval cutoffs, and decision rules.
  • Analyze portfolio performance and emerging risk trends to identify opportunities to improve risk-adjusted growth and customer outcomes.
  • Develop advanced analytical solutions using SAS, SQL, Python, and visualization tools to evaluate policy performance and tradeoffs.
  • Optimize acquisition strategies by balancing approval rates, delinquency/loss outcomes, profitability, and regulatory requirements.
  • Translate complex analyses into clear, actionable recommendations for senior leaders and key business partners.
  • Partner with Product, Finance, Operations, Technology, Control Management, Compliance, and Fair Lending to design and refine acquisition criteria.
  • Lead end-to-end implementation of credit criteria changes, including business requirements, validation testing, and post-implementation reviews.
  • Establish monitoring frameworks and reporting to provide timely insights into performance, drift, and emerging risks.
  • Maintain robust governance, documentation, and controls across the credit criteria lifecycle to support audit, regulatory, and internal review needs.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance underwriting capabilities through new data sources, automation, and process improvements.
  • Coach and develop junior analysts while promoting analytical rigor, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:
  • 5+ years of experience in risk management, credit strategy, analytics, consumer/business lending, or financial services.
  • Demonstrate hands-on ownership of acquisition credit criteria, underwriting policy, or credit decision frameworks.
  • Apply strong judgment to balance growth, profitability, customer experience, and risk outcomes in a dynamic environment.
  • Use advanced analytics and statistical techniques to develop insights from large datasets and drive decisions.
  • Show strong proficiency in SAS and SQL, including building repeatable analyses and monitoring.
  • Communicate effectively in writing and verbally, including presenting complex findings to senior management.
  • Influence cross-functional stakeholders and drive alignment without direct authority.
  • Manage multiple priorities with strong project management and end-to-end execution discipline.
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality, well-controlled deliverables.
  • Understand core credit risk concepts, underwriting practices, and portfolio performance drivers across consumer and/or business lending.
  • Hold a Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Engineering, Data Science, or a related quantitative discipline.

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:
  • Own end-to-end acquisition credit criteria for a card or lending product, including design, cutoffs, monitoring, optimization, and governance.
  • Deliver measurable improvements in risk-adjusted growth while balancing approval rates, losses, profitability, and customer outcomes.
  • Bring experience with credit card and/or small business lending acquisition underwriting and risk segmentation strategies.
  • Navigate governance requirements tied to audit, regulatory reviews, model risk management, and control oversight.
  • Apply knowledge of fair lending regulations and compliance considerations in underwriting and decisioning design.
  • Leverage Python, Tableau, Alteryx, or other modern analytics and visualization tools to scale insights and reporting.
  • Hold an advanced degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Statistics, Economics, Math, Finance, Data Science, Engineering).
