Who We Are Looking For

Quanteam UK are seeking a Power BI Developer to design, develop and support enterprise-scale Power BI semantic models, dashboards and reporting solutions for Risk Reporting, with particular focus on semantic model architecture, automated refresh processes, partitioning, governance and performance optimisation. The role is available on a contract basis.

Key responsibilities:

1. Designing and developing enterprise-grade Power BI reports, dashboards and scorecards.
2. Building and maintaining semantic models using dimensional modelling best practices.
3. Developing advanced DAX calculations, calculation groups and optimisation techniques.
4. Implementing Incremental Refresh and semantic model partitioning strategies.
5. Managing large-scale datasets and optimising refresh and query performance.
6. Developing and supporting Python-based processes used to trigger semantic model refreshes and processing.
7. Integrating Power BI with orchestration and scheduling frameworks.
8. Implementing Row-Level Security (RLS), governance controls and access management.
9. Supporting Power BI Premium/Fabric capacity management.
10. Troubleshooting refresh failures, gateway issues and performance bottlenecks.
11. Implementing CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation for Power BI assets.

Technical Competence

1. Expert Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service experience.
2. Extensive experience developing enterprise semantic models.
3. Advanced DAX, semantic modelling and performance tuning skills.
4. Strong understanding of VertiPaq, composite models, aggregations and query optimisation.
5. Hands-on experience implementing Incremental Refresh and dataset partitioning.
6. Experience using XMLA endpoints, Tabular Editor and DAX Studio.
7. Strong SQL expertise and dimensional modelling knowledge.
8. Experience with large-scale analytical platforms.
9. Strong Python scripting experience supporting automated semantic model refresh processes.
10. Experience with PowerShell, Power BI REST APIs and administration.
11. Experience implementing DevOps and CI/CD pipelines.
12. Knowledge of Power BI Premium and/or Microsoft Fabric.
13. Risk Reporting or Financial Services experience is desirable.
14. Familiarity with Snowflake data consumption from Power BI is desirable.
15. Experience with Control-M or enterprise scheduling platforms is desirable.
16. Exposure to Azure Data Platform technologies and dbt is desirable.
