Compliance Manager
A leading insurer operating within the UK and international insurance market is seeking a Compliance Manager to support the ongoing development and oversight of its compliance framework. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with senior stakeholders, providing expert advice across a broad range of regulatory topics while helping to strengthen the organisation's compliance culture and governance environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the leadership of the Compliance function in maintaining an effective Compliance Management System (CMS) that meets regulatory requirements and internal governance standards.
- Assist in the development and enhancement of compliance policies, procedures, controls and monitoring activities.
- Contribute to the delivery of the annual Compliance Plan and wider compliance objectives.
- Act as a subject matter expert for key compliance topics, providing practical regulatory advice and guidance to business stakeholders.
- Support the implementation of regulatory frameworks and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, automation and control effectiveness.
- Develop and deliver compliance training across a range of regulatory and conduct risk topics.
- Conduct compliance monitoring reviews and thematic assessments, reporting findings and recommending improvements where required.
- Monitor and assess potential compliance breaches, escalating matters appropriately and supporting any regulatory notifications.
- Analyse regulatory developments and assess their impact on the business, governance arrangements and compliance framework.
- Support outsourcing and third-party risk assessments, ensuring arrangements align with regulatory expectations and internal standards.
- Provide guidance on financial crime, sanctions and broader regulatory risk matters.
- Collaborate with risk, legal and governance teams to support risk assessments, control reviews and compliance reporting.
- Prepare reports and management information for senior management, committees and Board-level stakeholders.
Key Requirements
- Several years' experience within a Compliance role in the insurance sector.
- Strong knowledge of the UK regulatory environment, including FCA and PRA requirements.
- Experience developing and overseeing Conduct Risk and Product Governance frameworks.
- Good understanding of insurance regulatory compliance risks and governance expectations.
- Knowledge of additional compliance disciplines such as SMCR, Financial Crime, Financial Sanctions or Prudential Regulation.
- Experience conducting regulatory change assessments and implementing associated business requirements.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a practical and commercially focused approach.
- Proven ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders across multiple levels of an organisation.
- Experience producing Board, Committee and senior management reporting, including management information, risk indicators and performance metrics.
- Excellent communication, organisation and stakeholder management skills.
