The opportunity

The Operational Risk Team has responsibility for operational risk controls within Handelsbanken UK, ensuring a comprehensive and objective view of all risks in the Bank's business operations and providing independent assurance to the UK CEO that the business is identifying and managing risks adequately.

The Operational Risk Manager works within an experienced risk management team which is responsible for providing high quality analysis, advice, guidance and assurance on the management of operational risk to ensure the business complies with relevant policies, frameworks and regulatory expectations.

The team is responsible for the development and implementation of the Non-Financial Risk Management Framework (NFRF) and associated processes and tools. They are responsible for overseeing, reviewing and challenging risk assessments / risk management activities as well as promoting consistency and best practice in the application of the NFRF across the Bank. They are also responsible for undertaking control assurance, which is key in helping the business to understand its inherent exposure to risk and overall effectiveness of the control environment.

Key responsibilities

The Operational Risk Manager - GRC Implementation will lead the implementation of a new Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) platform on behalf of the Operational Risk department. This interim role bridges the gap between risk management, technology, and third-party vendors. You will configure the tool to meet business requirements while uplifting the bank's operational risk framework. These activities include but are not limited to:

• Configuration requirements gathering: Engage with the Op Risk team, 1LoD risk owners, and 2LoD counterparts across Risk and Compliance to determine user requirements including data and workflow to support Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) processes from horizon scanning to policy management, risk assessments, monitoring, mitigation and reporting.
• Framework uplift: Collaborate with the Op Risk and Compliance teams to update and improve the non-financial risk framework where necessary prior to tool rollout.
• Stakeholder management: Collaborate with risk owners, IT, Change managers and external vendors to keep the project on schedule.
• GRC system configuration: Work with internal technology teams and the GRC software vendor to configure the platform to match risk workflows and reporting requirements.
• Dependency management: Work with business and technology teams to resolve any co-dependencies with related platforms and processes (e.g. Group event management, IT controls and incident management, Audit findings management)
• Testing and delivery: Oversee user acceptance testing (UAT), data migration, and develop user training in collaboration with the GRC software vendor and Op Risk team before go-live.

• GRC implementation: Proven track record of delivering GRC technology tools within a banking or financial services environment.
• Operational Risk expertise: Deep knowledge of operational and/or non-financial frameworks, risk and control self-assessments (RCSAs), controls assurance, and issue/action management.
• ERM knowledge: Familiarity with enterprise risk management processes, including horizon scanning and risk mitigation tracking.
• Vendor management: Experience managing software vendors and translating business needs into technical configuration requirements.
• Change management: Strong communication skills to guide teams through operational and technological change.
