A leading global professional services firm with a well-established presence in Japan is bringing its contractor payroll and billing operations in-house. As part of this strategic move away from outsourcing, the firm is looking for a Payroll Specialist to support the transition, from testing and implementing the new Pay and Bill system through to establishing smooth in-house payroll and billing operations.

The Role
Reporting into the Pay and Bill project lead, you will provide hands-on payroll expertise to support the in-housing of payroll and billing operations, working alongside finance, HR, field administration and the system vendor. Your focus will be helping ensure that contractor payroll and client billing are processed accurately in line with contract terms and Japanese statutory requirements, both during implementation and as operations move in-house.

• Assist with Conference Room Pilots and User Acceptance Testing for the new pay and bill system
• Help ensure all payroll statutory obligations are met throughout implementation and go-live
• Flag design or implementation issues and support the project team and vendor in resolving them
• Support data migration and data entry across testing and production environments
• Provide information and updates to senior management as required
• Handle other ad-hoc tasks to support the transition to in-house payroll and billing operations

Your Skills

• Minimum 3 years' experience processing Japanese payroll or working in the Japanese contracting (haken) business
• Solid understanding of Japanese labor law, including overtime calculation and statutory benefits
• Native-level Japanese; business-level English is a plus
• Comfortable building working relationships across project, finance, HR, vendor and operational teams
• Intermediate MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills
• Thrives in a fast-paced, multinational environment
