Manager, Application Management

Our client is a leading organisation in the insurance sector known for fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment. They are seeking a skilled professional to join their team as a Manager of Application Management. This role involves overseeing application development projects, supporting IT infrastructure, and collaborating across departments to implement technology solutions that drive business success. The position is critical for ensuring seamless application operations and supporting the organisation’s digital transformation initiatives.

Role Overview:
The Manager, Application Management, will work closely with business stakeholders to translate their goals into practical application requirements, manage a small team responsible for delivering IT projects, and oversee ongoing application support. The role plays a key part in fostering innovation, maintaining high-quality documentation, and ensuring system reliability to support business growth.

Key Skills & Experience:
• 5+ years of experience in application development within FS/FI, ideally in insurance or reinsurance
• Expertise in web and mobile application development (Node.js, Java)
• Proficiency with cloud technologies such as Kubernetes, AWS, and Azure
• Demonstrated knowledge of managing large-scale services
• Extensive experience in software integration, testing, and quality assurance
• Familiarity with agile methodologies and CI/CD practices
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and team collaboration abilities in English and Chinese (spoken and written)

Key Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to clarify goals, challenges, and priorities, translating these into application requirements
• Assess and confirm requirements for thoroughness, consistency, and adherence to governance standards
• Manage a team responsible for delivering IT projects and providing ongoing application support
• Diagnose and resolve production issues to ensure operational stability
• Lead the development of proactive monitoring, diagnostics, and operational tools aligned with SRE principles
• Work with other IT teams to identify opportunities for innovation, improvement, and modernization
• Maintain organized communication channels and documentation across projects and teams

Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in application development within FS/FI, particularly insurance or reinsurance
• Expertise in Node.js and Java for web and mobile application development
• Experience with cloud platforms such as Kubernetes, AWS, and Azure
• Knowledge of large-scale service management, quality assurance, and software integration
• Familiarity with agile practices and CI/CD
• Fluent in English and Chinese (written and spoken)
• Right to work in the location
