bout the Role We're looking for a Senior Java Software Engineer with deep expertise in Camunda and/or CIBseven to join a team responsible for critical workflow and process automation platforms within a complex enterprise environment.

This is a high-impact role where you'll take a leading position in a strategic Camunda to CIBseven migration programme, acting as the technical authority while helping shape the long-term architecture of a modern microservices landscape.

Working fully remotely, you'll collaborate with experienced engineers, drive technical decisions, mentor colleagues, and contribute to the ongoing evolution of mission-critical business applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the migration from Camunda to CIBseven, providing technical expertise and best-practice guidance.
• Act as the go-to specialist for workflow orchestration, BPMN process modelling and related technologies.
• Design, build and maintain modern Java 17+ applications within a complex enterprise ecosystem.
• Coach and mentor team members, helping build internal expertise across Camunda/CIBseven.
• Contribute to architectural discussions and the evolution of a large-scale microservices environment.
• Support and optimise production systems, including 3rd line support responsibilities.
• Collaborate within Agile teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.
• Drive DevOps practices and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Skills & Experience

• Extensive commercial experience with Camunda and/or CIBseven
• Strong expertise in:
  • BPMN process modelling
  • Runtime operations
  • Troubleshooting and performance optimisation
  • Migration and upgrade projects
• Senior-level Java backend development experience
• Strong knowledge of:
  • Java 17+
  • Spring Boot
  • REST APIs
  • JPA / Hibernate
  • Microservices Architecture
  • OpenAPI
• Experience with:
  • Jenkins
  • Docker
  • Kubernetes
  • CI/CD pipelines
• Azure cloud experience, ideally including Azure Service Bus
• Strong SQL and data modelling skills, ideally within MS SQL Server
• Excellent understanding of clean code, testing and software engineering best practices
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
• Fluent English
