Quantitative Trader
Global Hedge Fund | Shanghai / Hong Kong / Singapore
A leading global hedge fund is looking to hire a Quantitative Trader for its growing investment team in Asia. The successful candidate will be responsible for strategy execution, market analysis and trading performance across liquid markets, working closely with quantitative researchers, portfolio managers and engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute and manage systematic trading strategies across relevant asset classes, including equities, futures, options, FX or other liquid instruments.
- Monitor live trading performance, market exposure, liquidity and execution quality.
- Analyse transaction costs, slippage and market impact, and identify opportunities to improve execution efficiency.
- Work closely with quantitative researchers and portfolio managers to evaluate strategies and bring new research ideas into production.
- Develop and enhance trading signals, execution models and risk-management frameworks.
- Investigate unusual trading behaviour, performance deviations and market events.
- Conduct post-trade analysis and provide insights to improve strategy implementation.
- Collaborate with technology and engineering teams to strengthen trading systems, monitoring tools and operational processes.
- Ensure trading activities remain within established risk, compliance and operational parameters.
Requirements
- Bachelor's, Master's or PhD degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Financial Engineering or another quantitative discipline.
- Previous experience in quantitative trading, systematic trading, electronic trading or execution research.
- Strong understanding of market microstructure, transaction-cost analysis, execution algorithms and risk management.
- Proficiency in Python; experience with C++, Java or another high-performance programming language would be advantageous.
- Experience working with large financial datasets and conducting statistical analysis.
- Familiarity with one or more liquid asset classes, such as equities, futures, options, FX, commodities or fixed income.
- Ability to make sound decisions in a fast-moving trading environment.
- Strong attention to detail and a disciplined approach to risk.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with researchers, portfolio managers, engineers and operations teams.
- Experience at a hedge fund, proprietary trading firm, market maker, asset manager or investment bank is preferred.
