Research Engineering & Production Systems Engineer
Westbury Partners Sydney, AustraliaResearch Engineering & Production Systems Engineer
Build scalable systems that transform cutting-edge research into reliable production solutions, collaborating closely with researchers and stakeholders while solving complex engineering challenges across data, experimentation, algorithms, and deployment.
What You'll Do:
Join a high-impact engineering team responsible for connecting research ideas to production at massive scale. You’ll work closely with researchers, traders, and technical stakeholders to turn complex problems into practical, scalable solutions.
From the initial research concept through experimentation, validation, deployment, and rollout, you’ll help build the technology and processes that make innovation faster, safer, and more effective.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Design and develop scalable pipelines that take research from concept to production.
- Build external data ingestion, feature discovery, and feature storage systems.
- Develop model validation, experimentation, and tracking infrastructure.
- Design and deploy bespoke algorithms and novel technical solutions.
- Identify integration challenges across different systems and teams before they become problems.
- Work closely with researchers through rapid feedback and development cycles.
- Translate business and technical requirements into effective engineering solutions.
- Choose the right technologies and approaches for each problem rather than relying on a single specialism.
- Contribute to safe, reliable, and efficient production rollouts.
- Work across Python, C++, internal domain-specific languages, and other technologies as required.
- Continuously identify opportunities to improve the efficiency, scalability, and effectiveness of the research-to-production pipeline.
Why Join Us:
You’ll work at the intersection of research, software engineering, data, algorithms, and production technology, solving technically challenging problems where your work can have a direct and significant impact.
The environment encourages close collaboration, rapid feedback, experimentation, and practical problem-solving. You’ll have the opportunity to work across multiple projects, learn new technologies, and partner with highly skilled researchers and technical teams.
You don’t need a finance background or experience with every technology we use. What matters is your ability to understand complex systems, learn quickly, collaborate effectively, and use the right tools to solve challenging problems.
About You:
You’re naturally curious and enjoy understanding how systems work beyond your immediate area of responsibility. You’re often the person who notices how different components could interact—or where they might not fit—before an issue emerges.
You enjoy variety, thrive when working across multiple projects, and can spot connections and opportunities between seemingly unrelated challenges. You’re motivated by solving problems rather than being tied to a particular technology, language, or engineering specialism.
You’re also comfortable working with stakeholders across different teams. You listen carefully, ask the right questions, and focus on understanding what people genuinely need rather than simply implementing what they initially request.
Turn research into reality. Build the systems that move ideas from the lab to production—and help shape what comes next.
