That reputation is now driving a significant investment in its technology as they re-platform their legacy SaaS system into modern microservices.
The Role
This role has arisen following an internal promotion and you will join collaborative engineering team, reporting directly to the CTO. The role is predominantly backend, working in Python and Django, with regular involvement in React and TypeScript on the front end. The organisation maintains a strong peer review culture, and values engineers who can operate independently while remaining receptive to feedback and collaborating with the team.
Responsibilities:
- Design, build and maintain services in Python (Django) as part of an ongoing migration from a legacy SaaS platform to microservices
- Contribute to front-end development in React and TypeScript as required
- Take ownership of features end-to-end, including document generation and integration work
- Apply Test-Driven Development practices
- Deploy and support services using AWS and Kubernetes
- Present code for peer review with a clear rationale for decisions and trade-offs, and respond constructively to feedback
- Contribute to technical direction within a small, high-trust team
Requirements:
- 5+ years' experience building and maintaining production software
- Strong proficiency in Python and Django
- Working proficiency in React and TypeScript, sufficient to contribute across the stack
- Practical exposure to AWS, Kubernetes and DevOps practices
- Ability to work autonomously as an individual contributor as well as collaborate with others and take part in peer reviews
