"I want to leave my U.S. finance job and work in Europe. But how?"

I'm looking for some advice. I majored in finance in the U.S. and am currently working for a local private equity firm in Chicago. I'm trying to plot my next move and am preparing to travel to NY for interviews with other PE firms.

What I really want, though, is to work in Europe for a few years. I think it would give me an incredible perspective on the global economy and on business and that it would improve my career path in the long term. However, I'm not sure how to go about it.

Can anyone give me advice on the relocation process? I'm open to London or other European cities and have even considered Dubai. How does a recent graduate in the U.S. get in front of firms in these countries - on a different continent and in a different time zone?

If you can help, I'd appreciate if you'd leave a comment in the box at the bottom of this page. Is this something I should raise at interview? Or should I wait until I have a job and ask for an internal transfer - or simply apply for roles in Europe from the start?
