Associate - Investment Banking - Media, Communications & Information Services

GROUP DESCRIPTION: Jefferies Media, Communications and Information Services (MCIS) Group provides a full range of investment banking services to large and mid-sized public and private companies globally. The team combines deep industry knowledge and M&A expertise with Jefferies' leading debt and equity financing, restructuring, trading and research capabilities to advise on a full range of corporate transactions across the media, communications and information services sectors, including, but not limited to, subsectors such as entertainment content, media services, broadcasting, education services, data and information services, marketing and advertising services, cloud infrastructure, connectivity, satellite, wireline and wireless services. The Global MCIS Group has senior bankers located in the US (East Coast) and Europe and is capitalizing on momentum from recent years by hiring additional senior-level and junior-level professionals.

POSITION: The Global MCIS Group is actively looking for an experienced Associate for our New York office to help support the MCIS industry coverage team.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: As an Associate in the Global MCIS Group, you will rapidly assume significant responsibilities including preparing and delivering client presentations; valuing companies using a variety of methodologies and leveraging skills in accounting, finance and economics; drafting deal documents such as presentations, CIMs and prospectuses; developing and maintaining financial models; analyzing business plans and performing company, industry, market and competitor research and due diligence; participating in drafting sessions; preparing and managing the delivery of internal deal memos; collecting and analyzing industry data on the sector, clients and their customers; and following and analyzing industry trends. Additional responsibilities include monitoring financial market trends and the markets' impact on the coverage sectors. These responsibilities afford direct and active interaction with clients (CEOs, CFOs, etc.) where Associates participate in client meetings and contribute to building and maintaining client relationships.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Experience as an investment banking associate or senior analyst, or an MBA plus 3+ years of consulting, accounting or relevant industry experience
  • A critical thinker who can quickly evaluate and analyze companies and financial information
