Upon securing this role, the AWS Cloud Engineer will join a dynamic team within the Infrastructure department to lead the design and implementation of cloud solutions on a large enterprise scale. The candidate will also work with various technology teams such as Virtualization, Storage, Unix, Windows, Network, Database, security, data science, application architects and development teams to gather requirements and help create next generation highly available, scalable, and automated cloud-based architectures.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Efficiently implement next generation Cloud-based solutions within the guidelines of the overall architecture in AWS Should be able to take guidelines from Architecture team and Application requirements and be able to implement and document the solution.
  • Develop scripts, templates and other kinds of Infrastructure-As-Code to automate the provisioning and maintenance and Reporting of large scale environments and configuration management
  • Contribute to the design, architecture and day to day operations of enterprise Cloud infrastructure
  • Migrate current home-grown scripts to industry standard tools following DevOps best practices
  • Actively participate in the implementation of hybrid cloud solutions including AWS, Azure, and vSphere
  • Support various technology groups and be a thought leader in the adoption of Cloud Architectures for the existing and new applications
  • Implementation and automation of IaaS and PaaS services in AWS including EC2, Lambda, RDS, RedShift EBS, EFS and S3, CloudFront, Elastic Beanstalk, SQS, SNS, ELB, ALB, ECS, Auto Scaling, VPC, Route 53, Cloud Watch, Lambda and IAM.
  • Automation and scripted deployment using CLI, REST APIs, CloudFormation and scripting languages
  • Work with various App and Infrastructure teams to enhance their internal processes
  • Participate meetings with internal stakeholders across IT
  • Act as an ambassador for the team and technology spreading the knowledge to others
  • Be a Mentor, good communicator and document every implementation.


Required Background:
  • BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or another STEM field. AWS certification highly desirable.
  • 3-5 years of solid knowledge and understanding of the wide range of AWS platforms including Direct Connect, VPC, IAM, CloudFormation, ELB, IAM, EFS, RDS, Redshift, AWS Cloud Management Tools, etc
  • Working knowledge of MS Azure.
  • Hands-on, results-oriented, delivery-driven individual requiring minimal guidance
  • Solid command of at least one programming/scripting language (Python, Bash, Puppet DSL, Ruby, etc) and being able to write code independently
  • Must have automation skills using Python, Terraform, Bash or PowerShell, Cloud Formation or Azure Resource Manager.
  • Experience with version control systems

  • Ability to prioritize, work in a high-pressure, fast-moving environment
  • Ability to anticipate, plan for and tackle road-blocks

Desired Skills:

  • Other configuration Management and Orchestration tools (Chef, Ansible, Salt, Terraform)

  • Experience in setting up continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) process using Jenkins, AWS CodeCommit, CodeDeploy and CodePipeline or similar tools.
  • Working knowledge of other Public Cloud Service Providers (vSphere, Azure or GCP) and management tools
  • Experience in Linux/Unix environment and shell scripting
  • Practical experience with automation of Windows OS
  • Additional programming/scripting languages
  • Experience with database systems (MySQL, MS SQL, Oracle and NoSQL platforms)
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP Networking and IT Security practices.
