RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
The Quality Assurance & Issue Management Associate role is part of Marcus Deposit's first line of defense, testing and monitoring to help ensure process-level risks and controls are closely managed to prevent and minimize risk in the business. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Participate in the administration of functional risk assessments and testing lifecycles of business policies and procedures for control effectiveness, while creating and maintaining relevant documentation
  • Gather and synthesize data to determine root causes and thematic trends related to testing failures and issues identified by the business and second and third lines of defense
  • Propose effective and efficient methods to enhance testing and sampling strategies (including automation) to ensure the most effective risk detection, analyses and control solutions
  • Proactively identify potential business risks, process deficiencies and improvement opportunities and make recommendations for additional controls and corrective action to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of risk mitigation processes
  • Maintain effective communication with other business units and support teams to remediate testing errors and assist with implementation of corrective actions related to testing fails and non-compliance with policies and procedures
  • Manage all aspects of issue remediation, including collaboration with issue owners, aggregation of issues across the business, reporting, synthesizing root causes and observations into thematic trends, and coordination and facilitation of business control meeting with key executive stakeholders
  • Lead and deliver executive reporting and other data-driven deliverables, with a focus on providing appropriate content, context and structure in a precise and timely manner
  • Focus on continuous improvement and evolution to meet changing requirements to support maximum visibility to the executive audience
  • Work effectively with teammates and win credibility quickly
  • Be a critical thinker: Thoughtful, self-aware, and use available evidence to make decisions
  • Perform ad-hoc statistical analysis
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Business, Finance, or a related field
  • 4+ year's related work experience
  • Experience building reports and presentations
  • Expert level proficiency in the Microsoft tool suite including SharePoint, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Heavy use of pivot tables, vlookup, complex formulas, charts, conditional formatting, and other advanced Excel functions.
  • Advanced organizational, planning and time management skills
  • Advanced analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, relationship building, communication (written and verbal) and negotiation skills
  • High level of creativity, perseverance and openness to change.
  • Genuine excitement and passion for leading root cause analysis, troubleshooting technical process failures, and implementing fixes to operationalize a process.
  • Interest and ability to self-serve, investigate, and get the data required to make quick and effective decisions
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task, and take ownership of various parts of an initiative while still following proper chain of command, and effectively working in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 4+ years banking experience, specifically in risk, compliance, or corporate governance
  • Strong Risk Assessment Framework knowledge and experience performing risk assessments covering key risks and controls
  • Working knowledge of financial, operational, compliance, and reputation risks
  • Experience aggregating and analyzing various types of risks and data with output to dashboards and/or formal written assessments
  • Experience with R or Python and SQL is a plus
  • Hands-on knowledge of test automation (GUI and API level) and framework design
  • Experience with Agile or Scrum development processes
