Ensure Engineering is conducted in a way which is consistent with the collective views, frameworks, patterns and best practices that exist across the wider Engineering community.

Our digital platforms (public website, mobile & tablet app and internet banking website) are where the majority of customer and colleague interactions with the bank take place. While everyone in the group has had some interaction with them as a user or helped build new features on top of them, they are becoming increasingly complex with the introduction of public API's, increasing numbers of devices to access them from and constantly evolving operating systems.
Our Digital Platform Evolution team helps the organisation to really understanding how we leverage these digital touch points and the increasingly varied device capabilities that they run on, to stay relevant and fully embrace the rapidly evolving mobile first digital landscape.
We're looking for iOS Software Engineers who are excited about writing modular, well-tested applications with a long lifespan.
Do you value easy-to-maintain code, solid engineering practices, and sensible use of frameworks and patterns? Do you value extensive use of automated testing?
Then join our mobile team to help us transforming this complex business in a seamless experience for our customers. We work in a complex business with a high volume of customers and transactions, so a desire to dive into the details and come up with creative solutions is key. We strive to improve the bank's engineering community, by organising knowledge-sharing sessions, events and regular hackathons. We're always keen to hear from people who actively engage with technical groups. Within mobile, there's a strong focus on business value and giving customers the features they need.
We hope that you'll apply if:
You are comfortable with Swift fundamentals and have experience in building iOS applications
You have some experience building interfaces using auto layout
You have desire to write modularised and highly testable code
You are excited by the changing iOS landscape, and care deeply about learning new technologies and patterns
You enjoy contributing to the success of your team through close collaboration and communication
You take ownership of your work and strive to meet and exceed business requirements
You want to work on applications that have millions of active users, and regularly deliver new features into their hands
You want to keep learning and share what you know to help fellow engineers to grow with you
What skills and experience would be beneficial to have, but would not be essential for them to possess. Such as:
You know how the software development lifecycle works, and have good knowledge of source control, automated testing, and being part of an agile team
Exposure to version control and CI systems
An interest and/or experience in Infosec
An interest and/or experience in building advanced UI
An interest and/or experience in Accessibility
