We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team in the role of File Transmissions Engineering Specialist.

In this role you will:

  • Work to the highest level of quality and produce and promote standards relating to the implementation, upgrade and usage of the File Transmissions technologies. Where required, some assistance with support activities will be necessary.
  • Work under own initiative with management guidance to define standards and implement and test engineering solutions related to the File Transmissions technologies.
  • Provide Enterprise Services as well as Developer Services which enable faster delivery of highly standardised services for example, Virtualisation, Application Lifecycle Management (ALM), Dev Engineering, Group System Development Environment (GSDE) and Cloud.
  • Setup and define automation to increase efficiency and reduce time spent undertaking tasks
  • Consolidate and reduce infrastructure complexity.
  • Embrace new technology, features and ways of working to adopt and migrate File Transmissions technologies to use cloud and containers and promote standardisation.
  • Help define the strategic direction and execute in the File Tansmissions domain.
  • Risk and Cost Management.
  • Ensure Service Quality Targets are met for offered platform services.
  • Business stakeholder management to define product roadmaps and keep other areas of HSBC informed about the Technological infrastructure capabilities available.
  • Improve business and customer experience through superior solutions.


Qualifications
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • IBM Sterling File Gateway (Sterling Integrator) Implementation, Configuration and Operation
  • IBM Sterling External Authentication Server Implementation, Configuration and Operation
  • IBM Sterling Secure Proxy Implementation, Configuration and Operation
  • IBM Sterling Connect:Direct Implementation, Configuration and Operation
  • IBM Sterling Control Center Implementation, Configuration and Operation
  • OpenSSH Implementation, Configuration and Operation
  • Pragma Fortress Implementation, Configuration and Operation
  • Excellent general knowledge of file transfer protocols and products
  • Competent Windows/Linux script creation and implementation
  • Knowledge of cryptography applications and data security
  • Wide experience of operational management of systems
  • Experience working with vendors
  • Leading and delivering change to processes and systems
  • A solid level of IT literacy, including a broad knowledge of IT infrastructure (operating systems, networking, security)
  • Good analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal


The base location for this role is London or Sheffield.
