The Events & Marketing Assistant will support both the Events Manager in the delivery of a broad range of events across UK and International channels, the Channel Managers in the delivery of marketing communications programmes and the digital marketing function in day to day website upkeep.

The role plays an important part in supporting the busy programme of events, by ensuring that all planning, logistics and internal briefings are delivered to a high standard.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a personable, versatile and skilled candidate to join the Channel Marketing team of a growing and ambitious asset manager. You will gain significant, hands-on experience in all aspects of a marketing department and also exposure to the broader operations of an asset management business.

Key Responsibilities

70% of the role will be to support the Events Manager:

  • End-to-end event planning and budget maintenance for our annual schedule of conferences and road shows
  • Working closely with the venue finding agency and sales team to identify the most relevant venues for all MGI events in the UK and overseas.  Develop the agendas and schedules for events and scope out all logistical arrangements, including venue capacities, travel, catering and audio-visual, in line with budget
  • Brief all event requirements into the wider marketing team, including presentations, branding and printed collateral
  • Ensure all events are supplied with the correct branding and collateral to make the most of any commercial opportunity, including brochures, event stands, client gifts and presentations
  • Book events in a timely way to give the channel marketing and sales team enough lead time to invite clients. Support the client invitation process.
  • Communicate all event arrangements internally, to brief the Merian team attending
  • Where necessary, travel to deliver events involving some overnight stays and potential for overseas travel. In this case, support the registration of delegates at the event and assist sales with the logistics during the event
  • Post event analysis of the success of the event. Be responsible for documenting success and improvements and implement learnings for the future

30% of the role will be to support the wider Channel & Digital Team:

  • Day to day management of merian.com and associated websites. Uploading of client documents, monitoring of page feeds and loading of client content
  • Input on creative ways to display digital content and promote to clients via email and social media
  • Where the events calendar allows, support the channel managers with specific project work such as advertising, copy writing and client analysis
  • Assist the channel managers in liaising with external agencies to ensure the smooth delivery of our campaign programme
  • Assist in event communications including email marketing and micro-sites

Experience required:

  • Preferred: experience working in an events management environment
  • Optional: experience within the asset management industry
  • Optional: experience working in a marketing department, within financial services or another industry
  • Optional: experience working with websites or other digital assets

Evidence of:

  • an interest in getting involved in projects from start to finish, including hands on involvement in delivery of the project
  • confidence in interacting with a variety of people of different levels of seniority
  • a flexible ‘can do’ attitude and the desire to go the extra mile
  • time management and prioritisation of tasks to meet deadlines
  • good IT skills, a working knowledge of Salesforce is desired but not necessary
