We’re hiring! Aon are currently recruiting a Director / Senior Broker to join our M&A and Transaction Solutions Team in London. The role is for a senior broking practitioner with deep technical M&A and Transaction knowledge and ability. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing advice to clients and colleagues on placement design, available coverage and capacity, likely pricing, potential coverage enhancements and market progress within scope of responsibility.

Global Broking Centre - London

About the Role

Your impact as a Director / Senior Broker:

Client relationship management (direct clients and/or network)

  • Lead initial conversations with clients and /or their advisers
  • Client meetings including pitches to law firms and other advisers
  • Develop new client relationships and source new business opportunities

Lead quote broking

  • Analyse transaction documents and DD reports in order to understand key deal issues relevant to successful risk placement
  • Lead negotiations with insurers, manage clients, colleagues and insurers through the placement process
  • Liase with clients, Aon and insurer claim teams as necessary

Technical Insight

  • Train junior team members in connection with transaction structures and deal documentation
  • Create and negotiate bespoke wordings with insurers and clients

Secondary functional activity:

  • Providing benchmarking and placement advice to clients
  • Establish and manage pipeline
  • Produce and/or deliver tenders
  • Present terms to client / network
  • Review / Create / Enhance Submission
  • Follow market broking
  • Market relationship management
  • Define marketing strategy (specific to placement)
  • Record broking activity in market sheets
  • Complete quote/firm order information in Brokasure including finalise MRC
  • Provide invoicing instructions
  • Provide technical wording advice to client/network
  • Provide technical training / guidance to colleagues
  • Coaching and mentoring

Occasional (optional) functional activity:

  • File maintenance - ECM
  • Send initial engagement to client/network
  • Send Cover confirmation to client/network
  • Scan / index final agreed slip
  • SPS design / placement
  • Issue invoice to client
  • Respond to A/c queries
  • Create BID documentation if required
  • Create bespoke wordings / clauses (per client)
  • Develop best in class product wordings (for SPS/product etc)
  • File Reviews / Technical Reviews / Peer Reviews
  • Develop strategy & goals

Responsibility for working in accordance with the Aon UK Limited Risk Management Framework, and compliance with the Aon UK Limited policies, including participation in the management of risks (including completion of mandatory training) that may adversely affect the business, interests or reputation of any Group Company.

About you

Your knowledge and expertise:

  • Strong technical and M&A execution skills with ability to think commercially
  • Strong inter personal skills
  • Effective communication, written (including report writing) and presentation skills
  • Ability to read and understand a Sale and Purchase Agreement and / or other transaction documents to a standard expected of a 4/5 year qualified corporate lawyer and to apply that to the placement of a related insurance product
  • Business acumen
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines
  • Experience of  working in a client facing environment
  • Ability to use insurance industry IT systems to efficiently deliver client service
  • Understanding of compliance and FCA regulation
  • Some experience of transaction liability products preferred but not essential
  • Excellent  understanding and application of compliance and FCA regulation
  • Ability to work well as part of a team
  • Demonstrate integrity and professionalism
