Specialized Group is looking for a Sales Executive to join a pre-eminent American AM Firm. The firm is looking to increase its business development effort in Japan, and the Sales Executive will grow the Company’s AUM by cultivating relationships with prospects, employing the Company’s consultative approach to investment solutions and ultimately demonstrating why the Company can add value to the prospect’s investment objectives.

Responsibilities Include Two Principal Areas of Focus:

Involvement in product and investment idea sourcing:

Communicate with internal/external investment teams to identify new/existing investment capabilities on the firm’s global investment platform that match the client needs

Keep monitoring new product pipeline across your specific asset class and inform the progress to relevant teams in Tokyo

Collaborate with the marketing and sales teams in generating ideas while gaining insight into the local client needs

Enhance the knowledge of Sales and Marketing people about new products through internal presentation and any other educational activities

Involvement in sales activities:

Promote equity, fixed income, multi-asset, or alternative asset products (both on/off shore) with the domestic Sales Team

Accompany the Sales Team on client meetings and deliver proper product messages to gain or enhance client’s understandings to equity/fixed income/multi-asset/alternative asset products on the firm’s global investment platform

Help Marketing Team formulate marketing strategies

Develop periodical/ad-hoc sale materials to bolster recognition of the firms products by for the clients.


Key Qualifications and Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills in both Japanese (Native) and English (Business)
  • Deep knowledge of investment markets and relevant products
  • A strong working knowledge and experience of working within at least one of the: equities/multi-asset/alternative environments
  • A clear understanding of the drivers of investment distribution success
  • A good working knowledge of the legal and regulatory provisions associated with the role
  • Ability to think strategically
  • Ability to build and nurture personal relationships with a diverse range of people/personalities at a variety of diverse levels
  • Ability to write reports and give professional presentations
