Job Purpose

Support the Group Consolidation process in line with IFRS, Regulatory Reporting to CBB, responsibilities of Group Finance. Participate in building robust processes to facilitate ongoing meeting of the obligations.

Principal Responsibilities, Accountabilities and Deliverables of Role:

Consolidation and Financial Statements: Perform data assurance and variance analysis activities on consolidation packs submitted by country units with application of relevant IFRS reporting requirements and perform Group consolidation exercise on a quarterly basis. Part of the team compiling the Group financials every quarter and as such the role requires good understanding and working knowledge of current IFRS standards applicable for a bank currently and any new proposed standards.

Basel / Regulatory Reporting: Responsible for the production, analysis and submission of various regulatory returns in accordance with the CBB guidelines, strictly adhering to deadlines. Review emerging regulations within the Basel regulatory framework and interpret their impact on the bank.· Coordinate for compilation of the operational risk weighted assets calculation on an annual basis.


  • Manage IFRS 9 compliance around hedge effectiveness, SPPI testing etc. Oversee IFRS 16 related reporting across the Group. Participate in emerging changes to IFRS and its impact on the Group.
  •  Balance Sheet Substantiation: Compile and execute the of the quarterly Group Balance Sheet
  • Substantiation Process. Diligent in maintaining an effective control environment for ensuring that all regulatory and financial control requirements are met.

Projects / Other:

  • Maintain and review procedure documentation for processes performed within the Regulatory Reporting function to ensure relevance and effective.
  • Complete rating agencies information requirements/questionnaires and review the draft reports for accuracy.
  • Participate effectively in all Group Finance related projects as they occur (i.e IFRS9 reporting in strategic solution, IBOR, new Market risk accord etc.).

Risk, Compliance & Business Continuity:

  • At all times, act with due care, skill and diligence to ensure compliance with Bank ABC’s risk culture, policies and procedures, Code of Conduct and Values.
  • Escalate risk and compliance issues in a timely manner to your line manager and ensure that all mandatory training is completed to schedule.
  • Participate in exercises to rehearse the banks response to an emergency (i.e. evacuation exercises and Business Continuity tests)

Job Context (Circumstances & environment surrounding the job):

  • The jobholder is responsible for ensuring that all the tasks forming part of the Group Consolidation, CBB
  • Prudential information and other returns and all other compliance reporting is done accurately and reported in a timely manner.
  • Reporting to the Group Chief Accountant, the jobholder works within International Financial Reporting standards (IFRS), CBB rulebook, internal accounting control standards and procedures.
  • The biggest challenge for the jobholder is to ensure the accuracy of the data and the production of timely, quality outputs as per the various regulatory and organizational demands.

Job Requirements:

  • Proficient in finance and regulatory reporting landscape coupled with auditing background and attention to detail.
  • Good knowledge of Basel, IFRS and CBB reporting guidelines.

Education / Certifications

  • Professionally qualified accountant – CA, ACCA


  • Minimum 5 years post qualification experience either in a bank or a Big 4
  • or similar public accounting firm with knowledge in producing and
  • reviewing financial statements as well as conversant with Basel / CBB
  • regulations.
