The Operations Division is the engine room that powers Goldman Sachs, and Operations Technology is driving their industrialization through automation, digitization and orchestration.


Our team of engineers builds solutions to the most complex problems. We develop cutting-edge technology systems and processes that form the core of our key business and enable large scale data processing. The Reconciliations space is a vibrant and highly dynamic global Ops and Tech community that is involved on all major business initiatives, industry initiatives, internal strategic flow reengineering projects across the Firm. Goldman Sachs needs to actively manage operational and counterparty risk arising due to data flow discrepancies between internal and external systems. Using a suite of internally developed reconciliation tools, we support reconciliations of over 10 million trades on a daily basis. The team is responsible for developing and supporting multiple applications directly related to the reconciliation function or the break management workflow.

The team is currently embarking on building a next generation reconciliation platform across enterprise platform biases that will be far more complete and integrated with key data stores and sources and provide enhanced control services and self-service onboarding. This new platform is predominantly aimed to support the Operations Division but not limited to only the operations division. We are looking for candidates to:

  • Work in a fast paced agile environment working alongside highly motivated engineers developing platform solutions.
  • Design, develop, test and document highly reliable new applications, tools and workflows to support reconciliations and associated infrastructure, in a structured, disciplined environment.
  • Have opportunity to work with several different technology platforms deployed within the Java, HTML5, AngularJs, Process Modelling and database platforms.
  • Form strong client relationships with operations and other technology communities.

Simply put, by applying a wide range of skills and working with operations to digitize, optimize and ultimately automate their problem space. The Operations Division is the engine house of Goldman Sachs and the division's success is epitomized by the automation and digitization ecosystem that has been evangelized and executed on through the Industrialization program. We use a data driven approach to identifying problems and suggesting solution and then delivering on them in an agile manner. Team members are expected to be technically strong and hands-on, can build relationships with our stakeholders and can advocate a path to success. While we have a broad strategy around digitization we expect team members to be self-starting and comfortable with their decision making progress. The should be comfortable with all aspects of SDLC from design through to implementation and the creation of testable, robust offerings that are intuitive to the end community. There is a particular focus onperforming data analytics, visualization of said data and providing recommendations for process improvement, organization restructure, adjacencies to take advantage of and talking points for the broader industrialization initiative. Powerful industry concepts such as LEAN, Six Sigma, Industrialization, Business Processing Modelling (BPM), Taxonomy governance and Big Data are employed to further execute the objectives of the program.


Basic Qualifications
  • Strong technical skills, e.g. core Java experience, use of UI languages e.g. Javascript/HTML5
  • Developing on Linux/Unix based systems
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work with a team

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with JavaScript/Dash, Slang, C# or R
  • Comfortable working in a global environment
