Team / Project Background:
Operations & Compliance Technology (OCT) is an innovation-driven organization comprised of functionally aligned development teams who develops strategic solutions that support key business processes including Settlements, Confirmations, Regulatory Reporting, Position Keeping, Anti-Money Laundering and Trade Surveillance. Asia OCT provides technology leadership to the growing Asian Businesses across Asia Pacific and Japan, serving a diverse landscape of 17 markets and 30+ exchanges and combining a unique mix of business enablement and regulatory, risk and control initiatives / platforms.
The Axiom Center Of Excellence (AxiomCoE) offers a challenging position as Business Analyst. Projects involve delivering strategic solutions and architecture renovation to support the critical regulatory reporting business functions for Asia / Global Operations and Legal & Compliance to reduce risks and improve efficiency and to meet the ever growing demand driven by new businesses, renovation initiatives, regulatory changes, etc.

The successful candidate will play a key role in the Axiom Center of Excellence Team which Morgan Stanley set up in Shanghai. This role has the responsibility to understand end user requirements, translate them into functional requirements, and coordinate with implementation team to implement solutions using industry leading technologies. This role also manages multiple cross-team development projects and provides leadership on the whole SDLC cycle.

Responsibilities Include:
Understand the needs of multiple stakeholders and facilitate the requirements gathering process
Work closely with subject matter experts to understand current state of process flow and identify/agree on future state
Review and transform user requirements (Business Requirements Definition) into detailed solutions/proposals, conduct feasibility studies and identify gaps/risks.
Continuously rethink ways to streamline and improve existing processes
Create and validate Functional Requirements Specifications, including Workflow, Business Rules and Use Cases
Facilitate design review sessions with Tech Lead
Co-ordinate with Developers to follow through development work and subsequent IT testing
Assist in liaising with other IT teams to meet key dependencies
Communicate with Project Manager, Tech Lead, developers and QA testers on project related issues, status and metrics
Assist Project Manager in creating detailed project plans including effort estimates and resource requirements
Assist in the project management processes including status tracking, issues tracking and communication to stakeholders
Prepare IT test cases as per Functional Requirements Definition
Assist users in creating User Test Cases
Coordinate with developers / QA Testing Team on IT testing
Coordinate with users on the User Acceptance Testing, provide user training and testing support
Vendor communications and management
Coordinate with users and IT on pre-implementation, implementation and post-implementation activities


Skills Required:
Candidate should have 4~6 years of relevant working experience, with at least 2 years in a Business Analyst role with proven track record
Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal. Be able to explain technical issues to non-technical people
Proficient with Microsoft Power point, Word, Excel, and Visio. Be able to and comfortable with producing project documentation of high quality
Good knowledge in relational database (Sybase / DB2)
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Comfortable with uncertainty, be able to make sensible judgment based on limited information
Ability to work pro-actively and independently within a project framework
Able to lead meetings, identify and follow up on issues, coordinate with interdependent areas
Strong leadership, drive, and interpersonal skills
Strong multi-tasking skills with an ability to work on multiple project tasks

Hands-on experience in software development using Java, Java script, XML in n-tier architecture in Linux platform
Previous experience in financial industry
Project Management experience
Strong understanding of front-to-back office business processes especially in the post-trade processing and/or regulatory reporting area
Chinese language skills

Educational requirements
Undergraduate degree in a scientific / mathematical / engineering subject
